Our Mission

A voice for the underrepresented

KRNBRY Studio exists to give voice to underrepresented and marginalised communities across Australia, including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, rural and remote Australians, refugee and asylum seeker communities, and LGBTQIA+ people, through authentic, community-centred storytelling in all its forms.

We create original work and platform the work of others. Everything we produce is accessible to community. Any surplus goes back into funding more work, more events, and more voices. None of it is distributed to members.

Our Three Pillars

How we pursue the mission

Pillar 01Media and Storytelling
  • Produce and support documentary film, podcast, short-form video, and digital content that amplifies the stories of underrepresented and marginalised communities across Australia
  • Tell stories about health professionals, health students, and healthcare communities with a particular focus on rural and remote workers, CALD health professionals, and communities with barriers to healthcare access
  • Document the lives and experiences of health professionals working in rural, remote, and underserved communities and tell the stories of CALD health professionals navigating Australian healthcare
  • Produce content that improves health literacy and understanding of the healthcare system among marginalised communities
  • Platform and support filmmakers, photographers, and digital storytellers from underrepresented communities
Pillar 02Arts, Creative Practice and Education
  • Fund, support, and resource emerging artists and creators from underrepresented communities across film, fashion, music, theatre, performance, photography, and community storytelling
  • Commission, present, and promote theatre productions, fashion shows, musical performances, visual art, and other creative works by artists from marginalised backgrounds
  • Deliver educational programs, workshops, and school incursions exploring storytelling, media literacy, and cultural identity
  • Engage young people from marginalised backgrounds as active participants and co-creators in the organisation's productions and events
  • Support and develop the media and health communication skills of medical students and early-career health professionals from underrepresented backgrounds
Pillar 03Live Events and Community Activation
  • Produce community events including fashion shows, music and DJ sets, performance nights, cultural showcases, theatre productions, and arts festivals that celebrate artists from underrepresented communities
  • Where events are ticketed, direct all ticket revenue to the artists and performers involved
  • Create physical community spaces and gathering formats including pop-up events and community forums that invite storytelling, cultural exchange, and genuine connection
  • Document all live events and community activations as screen content, creating a permanent archive of underrepresented cultural life in Australia

About Us

Who we are

Click any paragraph to edit

KRNBRY Studio is an Australian not-for-profit founded at the intersection of medicine, community media, and cultural storytelling.

We were founded by a medical professional and community media practitioner with deep roots in the Nepali diaspora community in Australia, and a conviction that the stories of underrepresented communities deserve to be told with craft, care, and genuine independence.

Before KRNBRY Studio, our work began with CityVision TV, an Australian online media platform serving the Nepali diaspora through podcasts, documentary-style interviews, and community storytelling. That experience of making media from the inside shapes everything we do.

We are not-for-profit by design. Every dollar we receive goes back into community programs, productions, events, and supporting artists. No surplus leaves the organisation.

What We Stand For

Our values

Authenticity
We tell stories from the inside. We centre the voices of people who live the experience, not those who observe it from a distance.
Equity
We actively seek out stories from rural and remote communities, CALD youth, migrant health professionals, and those whose voices are least heard in mainstream Australian media.
Cultural Pride
We treat cultural identity as a strength, not a footnote. The diversity of our communities is not a challenge to be managed. It is the story worth telling.
Community
We exist to serve the communities we come from. KRNBRY Studio is rooted in lived experience, multicultural, medical, and everything in between.
Independence
We are editorially independent. Our creative decisions are not shaped by funders, institutions, or professional hierarchies.
Craft
We take storytelling seriously. High production quality is a form of respect for the people whose stories we carry.
